The “Swiss at heart” Valerie Adams (NZL) and Dylan Armstrong (CAN) win the Diamond League competitions after a suspenseful six rounds in the jam-packed shot put arena at Zurich’s main station. The Swiss Gregori Ott fulfils his dream with a 20.00 m throw – a new Swiss U18 record.

Weltklasse Zürich stars inspire youngsters at 11 locations
Two days before the prestigious athletics meeting at Letzigrund Stadium, Weltklasse Zürich visited 11 locations around German-speaking Switzerland. Between 90 and 180 children at each venue of the traditional kids’ event trained happily and enthusiastically under the guidance of international stars and local athletes.

Weltklasse Zürich Showdown – Shot Put Prelude at Zurich Main Station on Wednesday – An Action-Packed Programme of Events on Thursday
After Daegu, Zurich: The world’s best athletes are gathering for a big showdown and for the Samsung Diamond League final in Zurich this week. All of the evening’s events boast star-studded line-ups. All in all, athletes competing in Zurich combine more than 100 positions in the Daegu finals, 19 gold medals, 18 silver medals, and 15 bronze medals. In addition, three world record holders, 13 Olympic champions, and 17 world leaders are getting ready to shine at Letzigrund Stadium. On Wednesday, the official shot put events will launch Weltklasse Zürich 2011 at Zurich Main Station. A few stadium tickets (standing area) for Thursday night are still available.

Rollstuhlrennen: wer gewinnt die Verfolgungsjagd?
Auch in diesem Jahr führt Weltklasse Zürich – mit Unterstützung von SUVA – ein Rollstuhlrennen durch. Spektakel ist garantiert, wenn am Donnerstag um 19:50 Uhr zum Verfolgungsrennen der Frauen (2600 m) und Männer (3000 m) gestartet wird. Der Start erfolgt gemeinsam, die Männer haben allerdings eine Runde mehr zurück zu legen. Wie gewohnt gehören die Schweizer Rollstuhlfahrerinnen und Fahrer zu den Topfavoriten: Marcel Hug, Edith Hunkeler und Manuela Schär werden versuchen, den Abend mit einem Schweizer Sieg so richtig zu lancieren. Die Konkurrenz ist allerdings auch in diesem Rennen weltklassig!

A week of Weltklasse Zürich is about to begin!
On Tuesday, Weltklasse Zürich will get under way with a number of pre-meeting events: At noon, the exhibition Experience World-Class Performances will be opened at Zurich Main Station. In the evening, stars will meet with kids for eleven fun training sessions at locations around the German-speaking part of Switzerland.

Weltklasse Zürich Up Close – Two Days of Athletics at Zurich Main Station
Weltklasse Zürich at Zurich Main Station: The majestic hall of Zurich’s main train station will serve as a stage for the Samsung Diamond League shot put events on Wednesday, 7 September, bringing the best shot putters in the world some genuine Weltklasse Zürich atmosphere to the Zurich city centre for the second time. World Champion Valerie Adams (New Zealand) will head the line-up for the women’s event after spending this summer training in Magglingen, Switzerland. In the men’s event, the Swiss fans will be excited to watch new local talent Gregori Ott perform on the Weltklasse Zürich platform for the first time.
